Our Story
Abacus & Olive started where a lot of useful things start: a spreadsheet.
For more than twenty years, our founder built and refined a personal financial management system entirely by hand — every account, every credit card, every projection, every category. There was no off-the-shelf tool that gave the full picture, so the system grew tab by tab, year by year. The discipline of seeing every dollar in one place — and projecting it forward — changed our family's financial trajectory in ways no app on the market ever did.
After enough friends and family asked "how do you do this?", we turned the spreadsheets into an app. First, to make our own life easier. Then, to share what we learned with anyone who wants to take real ownership of their finances — at whatever depth fits their life.
